Hmmm, I'll let you decide.


My 100 Bullets editor Will Dennis made me aware of this. Is it a swipe? Maybe. I wasn't there when the artist did it. Maybe it's just a coincidence. Either way, I had a good laugh. What do you think?

    I think more coincidence. Uses good compositional and color rules. Warms forward and cools back.

    Too close to be coincidence. Right down to the red puddle of blood to fill the spot where you had red type!

    Well...the story isn't original either. :) Actually, it's a little disappointing on another level.... The basic stated idea behind Campfire is that they have all these great artists in India, but that they know they don't produce great original stories for the US market b/c they're too removed from our culture. So, they just draw well-known stories. Kinda makes sense in a way. Surely they have some good artists in 1.3B people, so having them crank out comic adaptations of Shakespeare and Sherlock Holmes is doable.

    But....it's super disappointing to them seem them (possibly) knocking off people's art too. That kinda defeats the credibility of the whole operation and turns it into nothing but knock offs.

    If it was just one coincidence, I might give it a pass. But here you have the same basic composition AND color scheme. It's a swipe.

    In that case, I'm going on a swipe-binge of your work; I produce great covers with minimal fuss and and you get complimented. It's a win-win.

    Wait ... he took the same idea as yours, but he didn't copy your art. He duplicated the idea of using a person's shadow to reflect other elements of the story.

    Of course, your shadow made it clear it was a shadow, whereas our Indian fellow drew ... a curtain? A tornado?

    Call it idea borrowing. It does show the artist in a good light, that he couldn't think of a way to make it his own.
